Heart Throb – Wet Hop Pale Ale – 5.5% abv

Brewed with fresh Triumph hops from The Hop Yard in Gorham, Maine, and Pilsner Malt from Maine Malt House.
These wet hops were plucked from the hop bines on August 29th in Gorham, Maine and added to the hot-side beer here in Portland within a couple of hours of picking.
Heart Throb was fermented out with our house ale yeast, and lightly dry-hopped with Simcoe.
We visited the Hop Yard a week before this beer was brewed, and we found the Triumph to be uniquely driven by pleasant pome-fruit characteristics, as opposed to your typical tropical, pine, citrus, stone fruit hop medley.
The final beer glows a lightly hazy yellow/gold and exhibits a lot of bright hop flavor, maintaining some of the original, Pomey nature of the Triumph, and balanced by cracklin’ Pilsner Malt and the magical citrus/pine balance of Simcoe.
